Arapahoe Basin (also know as "A-Basin" is known as the "locals mountain" and is a more advanced ski mountain with mainly advanced runs. If you like bumps and extreme skiing, this is a great choice. It has a very laid-back vibe with lots of hanging out at the "beach" at the base of the mountain with BBQ's and Apre Ski. A-Basin does limit the sale of unrestricted season passes and packs, and limits daily lift ticket sales in order to manage crowds and preserve a quality ski and ride experience -- shorter, faster lift lines, easy parking, more space in restaurants plus the powder sticks around longer! Lift tickets and multi-day packs must be purchased online in advance.
Voted #1 for most-challenging terrain in Colorado (#4 in the West) by SKI Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards, A-Basin has over 1400 acres along the beautiful Continental Divide. Blue runs cover almost every part of A-Basin, from the open back bowl to the legendary Pallavicini Lift. Over 70% of A-Basin's terrain is black or double-black and includes some of the state's steepest in-bounds runs and most-legendary hiking routes. And we don't mean black groomers. We mean variable, spicy, backcountry-style skiing and riding. A-Basin is a small local mountain that is easy to navigate. The Pallavicini lift gets you to the most technical terrain and the other two lifts get you to the summit.
All parking lots are a quick walk to the lifts. Beginning in the 2024-25 season, a parking reservation will be required ($20 per car) in all four of A-Basin’s parking lots (Early Riser, High Noon, Last Chance and Upper Last Chance). If you are parking after 1pm on weekends or holidays, a reservation is not required and parking is free of charge. Parking is free during the week but may require a reservation. A-Basin does offer a carpooling parking program for four people which is free of charge but does require a reservation ahead of time. Please see link below for parking reservations.
Known for its ‘legendary’ steep terrain, A-Basin offers guided tours for intermediate to advanced skiers. The guided tour is customized based on the skier and is great for skiers and riders who may be looking to get into some of A-Basin’s gnarliest terrain, like East Wall or the Steep Gullies, for the first time. The guided tour costs $1,119* for a group of up to 4 people and does not include lift access. Call A-Basin for more information. *Price subject to change.
A-Basin is worth a visit in the summer as well with rock climbing, hiking, the Aerial Adventure Park with an awesome high ropes course, scenic chairlift rides, frisbee disc golf course, mountain biking and much more.
