The heating system in this unit is under floor radiant heating. This type of heating is very efficient and heats the entire unit very well. If you choose to increase the temperature, IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL HOURS to feel the heat increase or decrease. (The temperature will increase by about 1 degree per hour). Feel free to adjust the thermostat to a comfortable temperature as soon as you arrive, and then BE PATIENT. We suggest setting the thermostat to a reasonable temperature and leaving it on that temperature your entire stay. PLEASE DO NOT TURN THE HEAT OFF IN THE WINTER.
Welcome to the Mountains -- most homes in Summit County do not have air conditioning for the few months a year it gets a bit toasty! In the summer, our nights get very cool and that is your air conditioning!
Listed below are some tips to stay warm in Winter or cool off in Summer:
Please do not lower the thermostat below 65 degrees at anytime.
There is a thermostat in each bedroom and one for the main living area.
If you find the condo too warm, we recommend opening a window or balcony door to allow some of the heat to escape before you lower the temperature.
Close shades or blinds for windows or doors with direct sunlight to cool off the condo.
Leave doors and windows open while inside the condo in the summer. Please do not leave doors and windows open when you’re away as rain showers are common. Outside temperatures can change suddenly and rain and snowstorms can move in rapidly.
Utilize the ceiling fans in each bedroom and the main living area. Create a cross-breeze by pulling in cool air from outside and pushing out warm are from inside.
Please set the heat to 69 degrees at checkout. Thank you.
This is a GAS fireplace so please do not place wood or light a fire in the fireplace!
Turning on the fireplace should be as easy as flipping a light switch -- literally -- which is located to the right of the fireplace, next to the master bedroom door. It is labeled "fireplace". Just turn on the switch -- AND THEN WAIT A FEW MINUTES! It does take 3-5 minutes to activate and turn on so please be patient.
Please note: A gas fireplace has a pilot light (a small flame) that will stay on all the time. When the fireplace is on, a large flame will appear.
The size of the flames in the fireplace are not adjustable, there are only two settings: On and Off.
Trouble shooting steps for the fireplace not working:
Is the light switch labelled "fireplace" on?
Is there a pilot light (small flame) in the fireplace?
Most of the time if a gas fireplace is not working, the pilot light is not lit.
In order to relight the pilot light, below are step-by-step instructions or WATCH THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO:
Check for a pilot flame -- if there is a flame inside the fireplace, DO NOT go to the next step. Please contact us.
If there is NOT a pilot light flame, continue to step 1:
Remove the metal cover on the BOTTOM of the fireplace. You should fine something like the photo below behind the lower metal vent of the fireplace. DO NOT REMOVE THE GLASS. If you do not see any sort of pilot light (flame) at the back of your fireplace, then your pilot light is most likely out. This can be quickly and easily re-lit.
2. Lift & pull the lower venting grate of the fireplace forward, where you will see soemthing like the photo above.
3. Turn the black knob to the "Pilot" position.
4. Press and HOLD the black knob at the same time pressing the red knob. Hold for some time.
5. As you press the red knob, you will hear a clicking sound. Keep pressing the red knob until the flame appears in the fireplace.
6. Once you see the small flame, Keep holding the black dial for an additional 30-45 seconds.
7. Release the dial and turn it to the "On" position.
8. Wait 5 to 10 minutes.
9. After 5-10 minutes, turn on the "fireplace" switch on the wall.
10. Wait 3-5 minutes and a fire should appear!
If you are not comfortable attempting this on your own or you continue to have trouble after following these instructions, please contact us.
