The Dillon Reservoir bike path AKA the Dillon Reservoir loop ride is a 18.7 mile-long multi-use paved path around the Dillon Reservoir. With stunning views of Dillon Resevoir (AKA Lake Dillon), Peak One and Buffalo Mountain in every direction, enjoy a beautiful walk along the lake or endless miles of bike paths. It is a scenic and memorable experience! The route can be ridden in either direction, both directions require a substantial gain in elevation in order to pass over Swan Mountain. The Recpath provides paved pathway access to Dillon Reservoir from throughout the County, including Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco, Keystone, and beyond. The pathway is open to all uses, including walking, running, in-line skating, roller skiing, biking, and others. Stay on the right-hand side of the Recpath and avoid crossing the solid yellow centerline. Always signal to other users that you are passing by using a bell, calling out “on your left”. Take plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and a raincoat, especially if your ride will extend into the afternoon hours when rain showers and thunderstorms occur frequently. If you are cycling, always wear a helmet. There are many places to exit the RecPath if you don't want to ride the entire loop. The free Summit Stage bus system has stops along much of the route and all buses are equipped with bike racks.
The RecPath can be accessed from the condo by exiting the garage and taking an immediate left towards to sidewalk. Carefully cross the street and continue to follow the path that leads towards the lake. You will run right into the RecPath, just a few steps from the condo.
Insider Scoop:
Our family loves to ride our bikes to Frisco and enjoy lunch (and an ice cream at Footes Rest Sweet Shop) before heading back to Dillon on our bikes again. There are lots of pull-off stops along the way to enjoy the view and take breaks. To head to Frisco, head towards the lake and turn right onto the bike path.
We also enjoy riding from the condo to Keystone for lunch -- although the ride to Keystone is up hill most of the way there so it is a more difficult ride (especially with high altitude if you're not used to that!) but it is very fun downhill the whole way home! :) To head to Keystone, head towards the lake and turn left onto the bike path.
The bike path can get VERY busy during weekends especially. Use path with caution and keep right at all times. Always use a helmet, it can be dangerous!
Read this article for a more detailed run-down of the bike path.
There are plenty of other summer activities to enjoy in and around Dillon.

The Lake Dillon Disc Golf Course is a moderately challenging course with incredible views of the surrounding mountains and the Dillon Reservoir. This free public amenity consists of 18 holes ranging from 235 feet to 535 feet in length, with a mix of up, down, open fields and narrow wooded shots. Most holes feature alternate basket locations indicated by map markers at each concrete tee pad. There are steep hills and some rocky terrain. Plan on 1-3 hours to play the entire course, or for a shorter round and less of a hike, just play the back 9. It is roughly a 10 minute hike to hole 1. The Dillon Disc Golf Course also has a shorter kid friendly 12 hole family course affectionately known as the "Dirty Dozen." The disc golf course is a shared use area with bikers and hikers, as well as an archery range and motocross course in the vicinity. Please be careful and courteous of others. 19186 US Highway 6, Dillon, CO 80435

Lily Pad Lake combines manageable distances (about 3.2 miles along a rolling terrain) and beautiful scenery. Enjoy forests, beaver ponds, and two lakes. The second lake is bigger and is a great fishing spot but don't forget your Colorado fishing license - parking is limited so get there early! Wind through forests, wetlands, and meadows among educational signs with history, native vegetation, wildlife, and trees information. Rainbow Lake Trail is located near Frisco, winding through a beautiful forest leading up to a shallow stream crossing (no bridge, you'll cross by balancing on the makeshift logs). This short but scenic hike is great place for a picnic. The Oro Grande Trail (AKA Gold Hill) has amazing scenery of Lake Dillon and the towering Tenmile Ranges. It is located just across Highway 6 from the condo (you park by the water tower on County Road 51). Enjoy aspen groves, meadows with summer wildflowers. It is a beautiful mountain hike with different options of lengths and intensity with less people but no big mountain views like many of the other hikes in the area. Officer's Gulch is also a great option -- but again, please make sure it is suitable for everyone with altitude, length, intensity, etc. Don't forget to take lots of water, snacks and bear spray with you! Please check details for each trail as some of these do not allow bikes!
