Enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, pond hockey and ice fishing -- right off the shores of the Dillon Marina! Explore Dillon's winter wonderland just steps from the condo. Winter activities open on Lake Dillon mid to late January, depending on weather and when the lake is frozen and safe to explore.
Explore Lake Dillon's "Lake Loops" winter multi-use track located on the Dillon Reservoir. Walk, cross country skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing or fat biking on a groomed course with stunning views of Peak One and Buffalo Mountain from the lake. Lake loops usually open mid to late December -- and close late March for ice melt and safety. Click here to check if they are open.
Dillon Reservoir is home to Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon and Arctic Char. Offering over 26 miles of shoreline to fish from in the summer or venture onto the lake for ice fishing during the winter. Beginning in mid-November, Alpine Fishing Adventures, Big Ed's Fishing Ventures and Silver Flask Fishing all offer charters. Explore the Colorado Rockies on a snowmobile tour. Adults over 18 can drive a snowmobile with passengers. Children 14 and over with a learners permit may drive a snowmobile without a passenger. Kids under 70 pounds can ride the kiddie snowmobiles in a specially designated area. Goggles and gloves are a must and don't forget cold weather clothing! This local favorite is right next to the lake, off US6 as you are heading towards Keystone. It is located at the Dillon Nature Preserve Trailhead is a great spot, across HWY 6 from Dillon Disk Golf Course, Cemetery and Archery Range. The hills are steep and can be dangerous. Use at your own risk. Bring your own sled. If you head on US6 towards Keystone, you will see it on your right just as the Dillon Resevoir ends. CLICK HERE for the Trailhead directions.
There are also great places to sled onto Lake Dillon around the lake. Just be sure the lake is frozen before you do attempt it! If you head to the lake, there is a good hill as your head towards the marina, turn left on the walking / biking path and you will see the hill on your right as the path begins to curve to the right (where you would rent paddle boards in the summer). Another great spot is in front of the Marina Park Playground or in front of the Best Western Hotel.
NOTE: Please check the storage closet in the garage for sleds. You may use these sleds at your own risk. Unfortunately, sleds often break so we can't always guarentee there will be sleds available for use. You can always purchase one at one of the ski rental locations around town (try Christy Sports, REI or City Market)

Tubing is great fun for people of all ages! Don't forget your warm waterproof clothing, gloves, goggles, snow boots, a warm hat and helmet!
Dercum Square in River Run Village has an ice rink set up during the winter, and skate rental is on site.

During the winter, Keystone Lake freezes over into a stunning frozen lake providing five acres of skating area at Lakeside Village.
Enjoy time on the ice by grabbing some skates and stopping by West Lake in Copper Mountain!

When there is too much snow to hike, the next best thing is get out on the trails by snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is an excellent low-impact aerobic exercise that lets you enjoy solitude. Most ski rental facilities will also rent snowshoes. Also, check out these free snowshoe tours with Dillon rangers!
There are also free snowshoeing trails available in Silverthorne at the Nordic Center at the Raven Golf Club.
Colorado outdoor fun just one mile from Main Street, there are many ways to choose your own adventure at the Frisco Adventure Park! Located on the Peninsula Recreation Area, there are miles of summer hiking and biking trails and winter Nordic trails along the shores of Frisco Bay and Dillon Reservoir. The trails wind in and out of the White River National Forest, where you can also grab a picnic spot or reserve a campsite. Offering year-round activities! Enjoy tubing, nordic skiing, sledding, sleigh rides, a beginner ski and ride hill, hiking, biking, skateboarding, and disc golf. Check the calendar for events, including races for kids and adults. The Raven golf course is closed in the winter for golf but it is OPEN for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on the front and back nine Nordic trails. Usually open mid December through mid March, it features two free trails — the easier South Course and the more advanced North Course. Stay on the trails and out of the roped areas around the golf course. No dogs, walking, sledding, skiing or snowboarding is allowed on the Nordic trails. Parking is located at the Raven Clubhouse on 2929 Golden Eagle Road. The Golf clubhouse is closed in the winter, but restrooms are available. To check if trails are open, click here.
The Keystone Nordic Center offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing with over 35 miles of groomed trails in the White River National Forest, enjoy lessons and guided hikes. The nordic center also offers old-fashioned tubing too. Located just off Hwy 6. 155 River Course Drive. Keystone, CO 80435. Ski, skate skis, or snowshoe rental availanle. Call ahead to confirm hours of operation and make reservations.
The Frisco Nordic Center is located just minutes south of Frisco’s Main Street on Colorado Highway 9 toward Breckenridge, within the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area offering skate skiing, classic cross country skiing, and snowshoeing in a pristine alpine environment. With 30 km of ski trails and 8 km of snowshoe trails there is plenty to explore! The nordic center offers equipment rentals, lessons and clinics, and ski tuning throughout the winter season. You’ll find the Frisco Adventure Park, just across the road from the Frisco Nordic Center (on Recreation Way).
Enjoy peace and quiet as you glide across the snow in the beautiful national forest surrounded by the majestic mountains. It's fun for the whole family. Located at 9 Grandview Drive. Breckenridge, CO 80424. Rent equipment or bring your own. All ages and all abilities and all levels of fitness welcome. Children can start skiing with Step-In Skis when they can walk. Younger ones may be pulled by child “pulk” sleds. The sport-specific sleds glide well over packed snow and are fully covered, insulated and ventilated.
Check out Colorado Dog Sledding located just down the road in Silverthorne. Colorado Dog Sledding was started by a six-time Iditarod winner and the dog sled experience is curated especially for each reservation with photo opportunities and a chance to meet the dogs with a private and exclusive tour.
Mush a team of Huskies along the gorgeous winding trails of the Swan River Valley. The tour can take up to 6 people for this unique, interactive and absolutely thrilling way to experience dog sledding and the Rocky Mountains with Good Times Adventures!
Another option about 45 minutes from the condo is Alpine Adventures, offering tours out of the historic mining town of Leadville, nicknamed “Two-Mile High City” at 10,152 feet elevation and the highest North American incorporated city, which is surrounded by two of Colorado's highest 14ers (Mt. Elbert & Mt. Massive).

Located in Breckenridge, Country Boy Mine is one of Summit County's the oldest and most famous gold mine, founded in 1877. Known for silver and gold production in the early years and later producing large amounts of lead and zinc (used in World War I and World War II) this mine has lots of history. Enjoy a MONSTER TRUCK SLEIGH TOUR during the winter months as you ride high above the property to see fabulous views and learn about Breckenridge’s gold rush history. Visit an old miner’s cabin, then travel back down to the mine on sleds for hot chocolate and s’mores -- a fan favorite! You can also enjoy a SNOWSHOE TREASURE HUNT as you snowshoe the outdoor historic site of Country Boy Mine unearthing clues that will eventually lead you to your treasure – and you get to keep it!
